Professor Adewale Oladipo  who is the acting National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has vowed to do everything within his power to make sure that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan remains the President of the country beyond 2015.
South West zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at the weekend appointed Professor Oladipo as the Acting National Secretary of the party.
Professor Adewale Oladipo who spoke with newsmen after his appointment, promised not to be in chairmanship race with the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur in the forthcoming PDP national convention.
He noted that his going to Abuja as the Acting National Secretary was to join hands with other leadership of the party to prepare the party well for the challenges ahead especially for the forthcoming governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states in 2014.
His words; ‘’I want to assure my people that I am not going to Abuja as the PDP Acting National Secretary to be a co-National Chairman, I am not going to compete for the position of National Chairman with the present occupier, but to be a loyal team member and support in building a more virile and respectable party.  I am going to be loyal to the party and the National Chairman as   a good representative of South-West PDP,’’.
Professor Oladipo maintained that one of his priority as the Acting National Secretary would be to ensure that the South West is given its fair share as well as to ensure that the zone had at least two of its own within the PDP governor’s forum come 2014.
He vowed to do everything within his power to make sure that President Goodluck Jonathan got re-elected in 2015.
“You see, South-west PDP recently endorsed Jonathan for second term. It has now become my responsibility to champion the course among others,” Oladipo remarked.
The appointment of Professor Oladipo as Acting National Secretary by the south-west PDP was done in compliance with the court judgement which removed former Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola because his appointment was done according to the constitution.
Professor Oladipo was appointed at the PDP South-West Extra Ordinary Zonal Congress, held in Ibadan to fill the vacant position earlier occupied by the former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola..
Earlier, Chairman, PDP South-West Zone Caretaker Committee, Chief Isola Filani said the congress was attended by delegates from all the six states of Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti and Lagos with PDP state chairmen from all the states except Lagos State in attendance.
Chief Filani declared that the appointment of the Professor of Environment and Earth Sciences from Ile-Ife, in Osun State was in obedience with the court order which removed Prince Oyinlola from office as the PDP National Secretary.
The South-West congress which had in attendance party delegates from all the six states of the zone namely, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti and Lagos was also attended by state party chairmen from all the states except Lagos State.
