- Boko Haram Kills 22 In Another Borno Attacks
Saturday, 21 September 2013
Not more than 22 people were killed on Thursday and Friday in Bulabulin Ngaura village and Damboa-Maiduguri Road in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno state as confirmed by police authority.
This sad event came on the heels of the Benisheikh carnage where over 200 people were reportedly killed.
The same gunmen were said to have intercepted a commercial bank’s bullion van along Maiduguri-Damboa road, killing 8 people on Thursday. Another group of gunmen yesterday attacked Bulabulin Ngaura village of Damboa LGC of Borno state, killing 14 residents.
It was described as a retaliatory attack over the killing of a Boko Haram sect leader in charge of the area, Malam Abba and some members of the Boko Haram group by the community Vigilante youths popularly known as Civilian JTF or ‘Yan Gora.’
Police in Maiduguri confirmed that at least 14 lives were lost as a bullion van and escort vehicles belonging to a commercial bank was attacked and robbed by the gunmen along Damboa-Maiduguri. Three 3 police escorts and 5 officials of the bank died in the attack.
After investigating it was revealed that the assailants were the same gunmen who attacked Benisheikh three days ago in military uniform.
Lawan Ayamu Gwashe a Borno state assembly member representing Damboa constituency, also confirmed the attack to journalists in Maiduguri saying: “My people reported from the village that about 13 people were killed by gunmen that we suspect to be the Boko Haram sect members terrorising the state. They attacked and killed youths believed to be members of the vigilante group in the area just as they did in Benisheikh few days ago.”
