The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has reprimanded the Information Minister, Labaran Maku, for saying that Nigeria would shut down if the Federal Government heed to the demands of university teachers, for this reason ASUU said that the minister’s statement as a careless one and adviced Nigerians to ignore him.
The Zonal Coordinator Calabar zone Dr. Charles Ononuju a member of the Union, said that Labaran Maku was ignorant of the agreement between ASUU and the Federal Government.
The Union asked Maku to apologise to Nigerians for such utterance and was warned to stop playing politics with the future of the Nation.
ASUU also said that how can the Government shut down when it has not shut down "its wastages and the billions of dollars being stolen" .
