The Conoil filling station opposite NNPC Towers along
Herbert Macaulay Way, Abuja, went up in flames on Thursday as a tanker discharged the 33,000 litres of petrol it delivered. The cause of the explosion is yet unknown. Eyewitnesses said the sounde of the explosion from the underground tank brought on fear of bomb attack.
Security operatives were at the explosion site on time to avoid further harm. Fire fighter took long arriving the scene of the explosion as sources said they arrived thirty minutes after the fire started.
